Importance of Brushing Your Teeth :: Smiles By Sutherland :: Puyallup,Orthodontist

The ADA (American Dental Association) says it is crucial you brush your teeth twice a day with fluoride toothpaste. You can even find the stamp of approval on toothpaste that has the ADA Seal of Acceptance! If you do this, it will enhance your overall health. It has been found that if you do not brush your teeth every day, it can lead to other more serious health problems. When you are brushing your teeth, squeeze a pea size amount of toothpaste onto your toothbrush and move in circular motions on your teeth; brush the top, bottom, inside and outside of your teeth. Don’t forget to brush your tongue; that is where bacteria can build up. Remember to spit out your toothpaste and rinse your mouth when you are done brushing. Please floss after brushing; this will help keep your gums clean and fresh too.

Here is a great tool to have, if you are having lunch and are unable to brush after you eat. Carry a bottle of water to rinse excess food and/or eat an apple. Apples are a natural tooth cleaner; eat the apple and rinse with water. This will help until you can brush your teeth later.

Do not forget to brush your teeth twice a day. Brushing your teeth is important for your entire body and this is a good way to help yourself.

  1. Some dentists even recommend brushing three times a day, once every after meal at a minimum of two minutes, which rids off the plaque before it accumulates.

  2. Elaine, that's accurate. Though there are some misconceptions in earlier times that more frequent brushing gives people better teeth.

  3. Brushing is definitely important to maintain a good oral hygiene. According to dentist fishers indiana without consistent care, several oral health problems can result. Immediate risks include gingivitis, cavities, tooth decay, and other gum diseases which can eventually result in oral cancer.

  4. Having healthy teeth and gums are very important to all of us. We use our teeth to bite, tear, and chew the good foods that we want to eat. If we are not brushing our teeth, one day we may try to chomp a bite of apple and there goes a tooth. Our teeth don’t know that sweets are not good for them, they are very obedient and simply do what we tell them to do as long as we take care of them.

  5. This is a good way to convince patients to brush their teeth regularly. My dental clinic in Myrtle Beach has a similar program. It works especially on my children.
